DCI Motorsports Inc. has brought back the ultimate, ultra rare, holy grail of Pontiac’s: The legendary Ram Air 5 cylinder head. Not only have we reproduced this legend in aluminum we also put it on steroids. If you are a Pontiac enthusiast and love Pontiac’s. You have probably dreamed about owning the most rare and highest performance cylinder heads Pontiac Motor Division had to offer. The RA5 engines are extremely rare as they were never released on a production vehicle from GM. The only way you could get a set of these bad boys was over the counter at a GM dealership, until now! Now you can re live the excitement that PMD wanted you to experience.

For Factory Blocks

The DCI Ram Air 5 heads will bolt onto a factory block with bores as small as 4.155

Casting

This is a new DCI 5 casting before machining. If you look closely you can see we even put the number 44 in the center of the heads just like the factory did.

In this photo you can see the raised intake ports . 1 -1/2″ over factory.

Casting Chambers

All of our castings are cast without combustion chambers so that we can constantly update them for the intended application. Custom chambers are available for an additional fee. Every chamber is cnc’d to insure everyone is exactly the same.

Quality Control

We cut several castings into multiple pieces to check for any porosity problems. This way we can ensure the end user will not have to worry about water leaking issues.

Exhaust Port

In this photo you can see the long sweeping short turn of the exhaust port. The port slowly transitions bigger as it gets closer to the exit. This promotes better scavenging helping to get rid of residual exhaust gases in the combustion chamber between cycles making more power.

Pushrod air foil

Here we drilled a 1/2″ hole in the center of the pushrod air foil to show the amount of material around the pushrod before porting.

Factory ram air 5 heads flow as cast 300 cfm @ .800″ with a 2.19 valve. DCI 5 heads flow as cast 380+ cfm @ .800″ with a 2.20 valve

Here is a fully dressed factory ram air 5 with rare cast iron exhaust headers. Oddly enough it looked as though the factory was going to install an A.I.R. pump on these factory race engines. Perhaps they indeed were going to put them into production cars.

Pro Engineering

Pro Engineering (3D CAD software) was used for every aspect of the DCI 5 design.

Precision

We use coordinate measuring machines to verify all our key locations like bolt holes, spark plug location, etc.

If you look closely at the DCI 5 heads and the factory heads here in this photo. You will see that we went to great lengths to capture every detail right down to even the A.I.R. bosses on the exhaust ports.

Valve Center Line Spacing

Valve center line spacing is 2.040″ for our street/strip versions of the heads. For race versions up to 2.100 is possible.

Original Bolt Hole Locations

Our heads even have all the original bolt hole locations for early and late alternator and power steering brackets.

Pro E has way too many advantages to mention here, but without it. We could have possibly missed the spark plug hole getting to close to the back of the valve seat.
